Storied Washington, D.C. firm Covington & Burling attorney Alan Pemberton took first place in this year’s Boston Marathon, running in the men’s 55-59 year-old bracket. Pemberton finished the course in two hours, forty-six minutes, and twenty-nine seconds, averaging below six-and-a-half minutes per mile overall (despite racing into an all-day headwind). The Covington lawyer has completed the marathon a total of 12 times, although this year’s time was his personal best. Pemberton was back at work the next day.
And Pemberton isn’t the only Covington lawyer logging miles: patent litigator Richard Rainey works alongside Pemberton and is his regular training partner, and Kelly Jaske, a Covington associate, recently left her practice to train for the London Olympics.
