Rugby: Dartmouth 55, Penn 3

In a physical match against the University of Pennsylvania Quakers, the Dartmouth Rugby Football Club came away with a 55 – 3 victory on Sunday to remain the only undefeated club in the Ivy League.

Wrote Dartmouth junior Chris Downer of the day: ” ‘We were happy with how we came out,’ said Penn Rugby President Barzin Nabet ’10, ‘We came out firing and hitting… like we belonged here.’ Dartmouth had difficulty adjusting to a stiff wind in their face and the intensity of the Penn defense.” Undeterred, Dartmouth regrouped in the second half of the match and notched 36 points.

The team travels next to Providence, Rhode Island to play Brown University in a bid to keep its pristine record. Ivy League play concludes next weekend, and post-season playoffs will be held first at Dartmouth: the DRFC has already secured home field advantage in Ivy playoffs by outscoring its regular-season opponents by an average of 67 – 3.
